In the late 60’s and 70’s, Doberman breeds started to unseat Shephards as the aggressive breed of choice, as more shephards were being trained for high-discipline rescue and enforcement and receiving a higher profile as a “good” breed. Dobermans started to become associated with aggression and were the casting dog of choice in the 70’s and 80’s when directors needed a “scary” looking and aggressive dog.
