As the year comes to a close, we’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone: the permanent repeal of breed-specific legislation (BSL) in Aurora, Colorado. This victory is the culmination of relentless advocacy, strategic planning, and the unwavering support of the community.
When it was announced in March that the ban was returning, we sprang into action. Our efforts included printing thousands of flyers and yard signs, creating new websites, conducting a comprehensive BSL study for the City of Aurora, drafting motions for new laws, rewriting section 14-75 in case it became the framework for the 3A measure (it wasn’t), producing videos, launching public awareness campaigns, and much more.
Now, as we reflect on the progress made, we’re looking forward to sharing what we’ve built. We’re packaging up the base designs and materials used in this campaign—resources that have been instrumental in repealing BSL in five Colorado cities—and offering them as a gift to other organizations fighting against breed-specific legislation.
